5 ways to wellbeing

5 ways to wellbeing 2019-05-24T17:20:18+00:00

Hello, welcome, it is good to see you here!

We all take steps to look after our physical health, whether it is eating healthy or simply brushing our teeth. But when was the last time you took care of your mental wellbeing? We are inviting you to take a pledge to look after your mental wellbeing,ย using the โ€˜5 ways to wellbeingโ€™ as your guide:

  1. Connect with the people around me
  2. Be active in a way that suits me and that I enjoy
  3. Take notice and be mindful of my surroundings
  4. Keep learning new skills and developing myself
  5. Give what I can whether it is my time or simply a random act of kindness

While a focus on these steps has been shown to have a positive impact on mental wellbeing, how you apply them to your life is up to you!

For ideas on easy steps you could take select one of the 5 ways above or make your pledge now…

What are the 5 ways to wellbeing?

I pledge to look after my mental wellbeing in the same I would my physical health.

In healing others we get healed. After suffering from mental ill health I am grateful to all my friends, family and colleagues who looked after me,hence I want to pledge to others what has been given to me.

I pledge to reintroduce exercise and mindful healthy eating to my regime and routine. After a long period of mental ill health, upon returning to work I am more aware of my needs and the importance of staying connected to those closest to me, rather than pushing them away. My pledge is to myself but also to others, in the giving of my time and energy at work and at home. I am always learning and growing however I also pledge to read more of the wonderful library of books that I have, instead of binge watching series online! In pledging of all this, I acknowledge that in being mindful of my surroundings and my feelings, I will maintain greater wellbeing and thus greater effectiveness and happiness day to day. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I am pledging to be more mindful of what I eat and introduce more activities/fitness - both whilst at work and at home. I will continue my work to also support a local charity and give more of more time to help others.

I pledge to make time for my own wellbeing, I spend a lot of time looking after others and neglect at times to look after myself. I will do this through increasing exercise, spending more time outside with my dog, reading and having some fun nights out with friends/family.

I want to feel better about myself and write in the 5 year diary that I had for Christmas of the things that have been important to me each day. I started it in April and haven't missed a day yet. When I read some of the entries they make me smile and laugh out loud.
