The Government has set out clear ambitions for health and care services across the country to make better use of technology to ensure patient records are digital, paper free and accessible across different health and care organisations. In Northamptonshire, our digital transformation programme is working towards this ambition so staff, patients and service users can make the most of the digital opportunities available.
We want to empower our community to take control of their health, care and wellbeing through better use of data, information and technology. This could include booking appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions and finding the most appropriate service for your health and care needs online. The potential benefits include:
- Better access to GP services so you have more choice over how and when you access services and at a time convenient to you
- Making the best use of data and information so we can plan services and make improvements which benefit all service users, including staff and patients
- Improving the way data and information flows so that key information is available to those caring for you at the touch of a button
- Ensuring your data and information is safe by putting safeguards in place to ensure it is only seen and used for the purposes stated
