Discontinuation of WaitLess app in Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire’s NHS and social care organisations, working together as Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership (NHCP), are committed to making better use of digital information and technology to support our local communities to take control of their health, care and wellbeing.
This commitment includes investing in new innovations which improve people’s experiences of health and care services and access to information – and also help to alleviate the continuing pressure on these services while supporting professionals to do their jobs more effectively.
NHCP introduced the WaitLess app to Northamptonshire in January 2019 on an initial trial basis to give local people access to real-time information about waiting times for urgent care services at Kettering General Hospital, Northampton General Hospital and Corby Urgent Care Centre.
As well as helping people to make informed decisions about where to go for urgent (but non-life-threatening) medical assistance, its aim was to support wider work to reduce pressure on these services during periods of high demand.
Following the completion of the initial trial period and having assessed its impact, NHCP’s urgent care leads have taken the decision that WaitLess will not be funded further. This means that information about urgent care waiting times in Northamptonshire is now no longer accessible via the app.
We apologise to users of WaitLess for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is important to ensure that any money we invest in new technology is spent wisely and delivers clear benefits to our health and care services.
